Problem

After you install SAS^® 9.3 or SAS^® 9.4 software in a Windows operating environment, errors similar to the following might be reported by the Windows operating system:

Description:
Activation context generation failed for 
"c:\program files\sashome\sasdeploymentmanager\9.4\products\cfgwizard__94XXX__prt__xx__sp0__1\utilities\
w64\sasshortcutmgr.exe". Dependent Assembly Microsoft.VC80.CRT,processorArchitecture="ia64",
publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",type="win32",version="8.0.50727.762" could not be found. 

Please use sxstrace.exe for detailed diagnosis. 

Cause

The errors, which are reported in the application event log, occur when information is missing from the executable files listed below. The issue occurs when details that describe the company name, product name, product version, or copyright information for the files are missing.

• sasshortcutmgr.exe
• SASSvcCfgUtil.exe
• SASSvcChgDesc.exe
• sassvcstart.exe
• sassvcstop.exe

Solution

The files listed above are not required for the use of SAS software. To prevent the error, delete the files listed above from the following folder:
